denkende dat het geluk omstréden moest zijn
en dat het leven zonder smeeken niet schenkt.
o, hoe heerlijk is nu het talmen
geworden aan deze reede!
bij het dwalen onder de nacht'lijke palmen
ben ik van vrede doordrenkt.
